National Museum of Scotland grand re-opening

The National Museum of Scotland in Chamber Street has officially re-opened. I was lucky to be there during the grand opening ceremony on 29 July 2011. The crowds gathered could hear the thunderous concert by Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers, see the animatronic dinosaur and watch the doors re-open to the sound of Chinese crackers.

The exhibitions are fascinating, with 80% of items being displayed for the first time in decades.
